- The funeral of Miss Christina Jensen, who died at Ely, Nevada, November 25, was held at the meeting house in Elsinore Friday afternoon, and a large crowd of relatives and friends paid their last respect to the earthly remains. Music was furnished by the choir and a solo was sung by Misses Carrie Marquardson and Minnie Jensen. The speakers were J.V. Franck, A.C. Anderson, August Kotter, S. Sorensen, D.P. Jensen, N.P. Nielson and Bishop Jensen.
The deceased was born in Denmark 17 years ago and came to Salt Lake a year ago last June, there meeting her brother, Christian Jensen, who had left Denmark the previous year. They came there strangers in a strange land, but determined to assist their parents and little brothers and sisters to come to this country.
They worked there until last June, when they came to Elsinore to visit their relatives.
In July they went with their uncle, Chris Hermansen, and Hannah Hermansen to Ely to find employment. After being there about three months Miss Jensen was taken down with typhoid fever. Everything that could be done for her was done, but after an illness of three weeks she died. The remains were shipped to Elsinore, arriving last Wednesday.
Her brother was also taken down with the same disease at Ely and at last report was not expected to recover.
Their father J. Christian Jensen, as a cement moulder in Denmark, and is well known by many of the people here, as at his home the missionaries have always been welcome.
The people at Ely paid all the expenses connected with sending the body home, and at the funeral resolutions of respect and condolence were unanimously adopted expressing sympathy for the sorely bereaved parents and thankfulness to the kind people of Ely for their thoughtfulness and services in behalf of the deceased and friends.
